Construction on the stormwater retrofit will begin on or about Wednesday, December 11, 2024, and will take between two and three months to complete, weather permitting. Daily construction hours are limited to weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please anticipate seeing construction vehicles around this time next week.
To promote safety during the project, the sidewalk on the west side of Connecticut Avenue will be temporarily closed. Signs will guide pedestrians to cross to the east side of Connecticut Avenue via existing crosswalks at Bel Pre Road and S. Leisure World Boulevard. Additional traffic control devices including partial lane closure will be in place during the work day as needed in the southbound right turn lane from Connecticut Avenue onto Bel Pre Road. These traffic control devices will be actively managed to maintain vehicular traffic flow and the safety of vehicles, pedestrians, and workers.
Plantings will likely occur in Spring 2025 due to the seasonality of plant species.
